So, fans are taking matters into their own hands and using Fortnite to act out the plot of the highly anticipated 2026 film Avengers: Doomsday.

Of course, Marvel Studios shocked the world in July by announcing that Robert Downey Jr. was returning to the franchise as Doctor Doom. After the initial shock, fans started asking a lot of questions, such as whether Downey’s villain would be a variant of Iron Man or his own character. Well, the latest season of Fortnite is offering a way to get answers, and players are taking advantage.

Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 4: Absolute Doom is all about Doctor Doom taking control of the Battle Royale island, but its newest feature is allowing players to become the iconic bad guy and lay waste to their enemies. One player saw an opportunity, so they put on their best Iron Man skin and loaded into the game. They then traveled to the Isle of Doom and claimed the powers for themselves, very possibly teasing the events of Doomsday. You can check out the video below:

The timing of this event has felt almost too perfect, as the Absolute Doom season got leaked months before Downey’s appearance at San Diego Comic-Con 2024. So, either Marvel and Fortnite are working on their brand synergy and doing an amazing job, or it’s the biggest coincidence in the history of gaming. Either way, fans of both properties are winning big as they await the next big event of the MCU.

Fortnite is available to play on various platforms, including the Meta Quest 2 and 3, and Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on May 1, 2026.

‘This Is a Win for Everyone:’ Fortnite Players React to Massive Battle Pass Change https://www.escapistmagazine.com/fortnite-players-react-to-massive-battle-pass-change/ https://www.escapistmagazine.com/fortnite-players-react-to-massive-battle-pass-change/#disqus_thread Wed, 07 Aug 2024 16:24:27 +0000 https://www.escapistmagazine.com/?p=265262 Battle passes have become commonplace in the video game world. Live-service games will have players buy a pass to unlock items, but that means people who don’t participate miss out on really cool stuff. However, Fortnite is changing that model for its game, and players couldn’t be happier.

The news comes via Fortnite‘s official blog, which notes that items from future Battle Passes will be available for purchase after 18 months. It’s unclear if players will be able to buy all 100 tiers or just specific items, but it’s a massive change. The only real downside is that older skins like Deadpool and Aquaman, which arrived when the game was far from its peak, aren’t eligible to return. Regardless, there’s plenty to celebrate.

The Fortnite Battle Pass Change Everyone Wanted

While being gamers together can be a real challenge, Fortnite has a knack for it, always pushing the right buttons when it comes to keeping the playerbase happy. And this latest change is another notch in the win column if the replies to the announcement tweet are anything to go by.

“This is a win for everyone,” said popular Fortnite YouTuber SypherPK on X. “I’m saying that as someone that has every battle pass. Let people get their favorite cosmetics.”

“W for licensed IP skins like Marvel & DC,” added Fortnite meme king Nick Eh 30. “To be a fan of a game/movie and never be able to get a skin again was unfortunate. Great change there!”

The timing of this announcement is interesting, as it comes on the heels of the return of the Paradigm skin to the Item Shop, which Epic Games claims was an accident. Gamers were very excited at the prospect of buying an old skin, and it’s possible that the powers that be really took that to heart.

Fortnite Brings Back ‘Limited-Time’ Paradigm Outfit Then Removes It https://www.escapistmagazine.com/fortnite-brings-back-limited-time-paradigm-outfit-then-removes-it/ https://www.escapistmagazine.com/fortnite-brings-back-limited-time-paradigm-outfit-then-removes-it/#disqus_thread Wed, 07 Aug 2024 01:17:58 +0000 https://www.escapistmagazine.com/?p=264883 Update Aug. 6, 8:40 pm PT: After backlash from fans Epic Games has announced purchasers will keep the Paradigm skin in Fortnite and get a refund. A new variant will be gifted to those who bought it originally, and a refund will also be offered.

Update Aug. 6, 6:58 pm PT: Epic Games have addressed the appearance of Paradigm in Fortnite’s item shop calling it a bug, and announcing that it will be removed from the lockers of those who purchased it.

Previous: Fortnite players booted up their games on Aug. 6 to find a surprising addition to the Item Shop, the original Paradigm outfit that was supposedly exclusively available during Season X.

Back in 2019, this limited-time skin was released in the shop for 1200 V-Bucks, and for five years it never returned. However, on Aug. 6, 2024, it came back confusing fans with its re-emergence before it was vaulted once again.

https://twitter.com/FortniteGame/status/1182445709443780608

Epic Games have been consistent with keeping limited-time skins exclusive, aside from a handful of exceptions, but for Paradigm it looked as though they changed their minds. Ultimately the skin was removed from the store after just one hour.

The re-appearance of Paradigm was disappointing news for those who purchased the skin initially with the thought that it wouldn’t be coming back, but it was good news for fans who missed out when it first arrived in 2019 as there looked to finally be a new way to add it to their collections.

Many fans immediately speculated that Paradigm’s addition to the item shop was a mistake, and feared that it would be refunded to those who purchased it during its second run. Their reasoning was that the Order’s pickaxe was also added, and some think Epic Games intended to add back the Order, not Paradigm. Given they removed the skin from the shop it seems that it was a mistake, however, it’s unclear how they plan to handle things for those who bought it.

In the past, we’ve seen Fortnite refund skins for players when they didn’t intend to give them a way to purchase it, so that could be the same here. If you are one of the people who purchased this skin during its short stint in the store expect an official announcement regarding its future to be shared by Epic Games sometime soon.

‘I Always Wanted to Ride a Trash Bin:’ Fortnite Players React to the Cybertruck Collab https://www.escapistmagazine.com/i-always-wanted-to-ride-a-trash-bin-fortnite-players-react-to-the-cybertruck-collab/ https://www.escapistmagazine.com/i-always-wanted-to-ride-a-trash-bin-fortnite-players-react-to-the-cybertruck-collab/#disqus_thread Tue, 23 Jul 2024 14:34:27 +0000 https://www.escapistmagazine.com/?p=257384 Fortnite has become synonymous with collaborations. In fact, Epic Games’ free-to-play title has paved the way for other multiplayer games to try their hand at crossovers. However, the latest Fortnite collab with Tesla’s Cybertruck is receiving its fair share of backlash.

It all starts with the announcement trailer for the collab, which features the Cybertruck in a tug-of-war contest against a tank, a pickup truck, and a massive bus. Tesla’s vehicle, of course, wins the battle, and its driver, Fishsitck, drives off, showing off his ride’s speed in the process.

While it’s not surprising for Fortnite to release a trailer for an upcoming collab, it is a little strange for it to tell everyone how much cooler the item is than the ones already in the game, and players quickly took notice, taking to social media to dunk on the Cybertruck.

I Always Wanted to Ride a Trash Bin

The Fortnite trailer took its fair share of heat on X (formerly known as Twitter), but notable fun place Reddit had a field day with it, poking fun at everything from the Cybertruck’s mechanical failures to Elon Musk’s ego.

“I like to imagine Epic approaches most companies for collabs because they see potential in the brand,” one user said. “Meanwhile Elon kept banging on their door going ‘PLEASE LET ME IN! I WANT PEOPLE TO GRIDDY ON MY CARRRR!'”

“It’s gonna be hilarious when it blows up in the game like it does in real life,” another added. “Hopefully it breaks down randomly too so we get the real Cybertruck experience.”

Why Is the Cybertruck So Controversial?

Outside of the obvious connection to Musk, who constantly finds himself in the news for all the wrong reasons, the Cybertruck has had a tough go of it. During the demo for the vehicle, Elon Musk attempted to show off its impressive armor windows, only to have them shatter after getting hit by a ball.

That massive public failure, as well as countless other issues, including recalls and price increases, made the Cybertruck something of a meme. And with the Cybertruck being added to Fortnite, one of the most popular games in the world, it’s no surprise that people are throwing virtual balls at its windows.

Fortnite is available to play now on various platforms, including the Meta Quest 2 and 3.

Tilted Towers, Other Classic POIs to Return to Fortnite in New Mode https://www.escapistmagazine.com/tilted-towers-other-classic-pois-to-return-to-fortnite-in-new-mode/ https://www.escapistmagazine.com/tilted-towers-other-classic-pois-to-return-to-fortnite-in-new-mode/#disqus_thread Fri, 21 Jun 2024 16:57:45 +0000 https://www.escapistmagazine.com/?p=239902 School is finally out, and Epic Games is ready to deliver something huge in time for the break. A new mode is coming to Fortnite that will feature the return of several classic POIs, including the iconic Tilted Towers.

Announced via the game’s official X account, Fortnite is teasing a new mode called Fortnite: Reload with a new map. However, not everything is new, as the POIs featured in the announcement are all from the OG map. Check out the video below:

While details about the mode are scarce, a follow-up post mentions that Reload is “A place of high energy!! And forgiveness.” That could mean a lot of things, but the words “Reload” and “forgiveness” point to the mode having some sort of respawn feature. Of course, in Battle Royale and Zero Build, when players die, they drop Reboot Cards, and it’s up to the other players in the squad to bring them back. Reload may be looking to switch things up, possibly being a more intense version of Team Rumble.

Regardless of how the mode plays, though, the biggest draw will be the return of Tilted Towers and the other POIs, which have been out of the game since the end of Fortnite OG in late 2023. It’s unclear if Reload is a permanent replacement for OG, but that seems unlikely since recent leaks point to the original map returning later this year.

Fortnite: Reload will go live on Saturday, June 22, 2024. It’s part of a major update that also includes the Pirates of the Caribbean collab, as well as the start of the summer event.

Fortnite is available to play now on various platforms, including the Meta Quest 2 and 3.

How to Fix Fortnite Failed to Download Supervised Settings Error https://www.escapistmagazine.com/how-to-fix-fortnite-failed-to-download-supervised-settings-error/ https://www.escapistmagazine.com/how-to-fix-fortnite-failed-to-download-supervised-settings-error/#disqus_thread Fri, 14 Jun 2024 15:43:00 +0000 https://www.escapistmagazine.com/?p=164060 Are you having problems trying to get into Fortnite? Is it spitting angry error messages at you? Well, here’s how to fix the Fortnite “failed to download supervised settings” error so you can get back to earning Battle Stars and Victory Royales.

Are the Fortnite Servers Down?

There are a few possible fixes for this Fortnite error, but the first thing to do is to check that the game’s servers aren’t down. To do this, there’s a couple of things you can do.

First, go to Epic’s own Server Status page here and click on the plus next to the Fortnite section. If you see mention of an outage, that means there’s an issue you can do nothing about. So, it’s time to close the game and try something else out for a bit.

If there’s no error, it could still be down, but Epic just hasn’t updated that page yet. Go to the Fortnite section of Down Detector and see if there are reported outages.

If Down Detector is reporting problems, don’t worry – Epic is likely aware of the issue and on the case. The official Fortnite Status X page will typically update players, keeping them aware of any ongoing issues and whether a solution is on the way.

At the time of this article’s most recent update, June 14, 2024, the issue is indeed on Fortnite‘s end, which means there’s nothing you can really do until it’s fixed. If you’re reading this article at any other time and the above tools are saying things are fine, then read on!

How to Fix the ‘Failed to Download Supervised Settings Error’ in Fortnite

If neither page mentions any kind of system-wide error, it could be an issue with your PC or console. In that case, there are a few things to try.

  • Check you have an active internet connection by opening up another online game visiting a website
  • Try rebooting your PC or console
  • Disconnect your PC or console from the internet, then reconnect
  • Try turning your router on and off

Those fixes could work, but if you’re still getting the “failed to download supervised settings” error while trying to get into the game, it’s more likely to be an issue on Fortnite‘s end. It’s entirely possible you’re experiencing the error before any other tools have reported the problem. That’s not what anyone wants to hear, but these things happen, and Epic Games has done enough for its fanbase to earn a bit of a grace period when it comes to errors. So, sit tight and wait for things to work themselves out. Battle Royale isn’t going anywhere.

And that’s how to fix the Fortnite “failed to download supervised settings” error.

Fortnite is available to play now on various platforms, including the Meta Quest 2 and 3.

Fortnite Players Divided Over First Chapter 5 Season 3 Balance Patch https://www.escapistmagazine.com/fortnite-players-divided-over-first-chapter-5-season-3-balance-patch/ https://www.escapistmagazine.com/fortnite-players-divided-over-first-chapter-5-season-3-balance-patch/#disqus_thread Thu, 30 May 2024 18:45:35 +0000 https://www.escapistmagazine.com/?p=226619 Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 has been divisive from the start, which was to be expected with the number of outlandish changes Epic Games made to the battle royale. From the Boom Bolt to Grenade launcher Turrets, a balance patch was a given with how chaotic the new season has been.

Fortnite Balance Patch Divides Players

The Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 balance hotfix dropped around 2 PM EST on May 30, and, as outlined above, it nerfed quite a few of the new mechanics. According to iFireMonkey, the hotfix nerfed Nitro Gauntlets, Grenade Launchers, Machine Guns, and a few aspects of the game relating to the new Nitro Boost.

If you’ve paid attention to Fortnite streamers since the start of the season, they’ve had a lot to say about these mechanics. Ninja, in particular, has posted several clips utilizing or being abused by the new turrets. The Grenade Launcher has been the center of a lot of controversy during season 3, as it tears through builds and players like they’re a wet napkin.

Hotfixes like this usually fly under the radar, but players have formed strong opinions on the changes because of how dynamic the season has been. Several players call the hotfix a “w update” as they claim the explosive nature of the new mechanics has made this season “unplayable.”

However, another faction of players is lamenting the changes and claims Epic Games is pandering to the “crying tryhards.” A few have gone as far as to say the adjustments to said features are “ruining the season” and that the hotfix makes the new content less impactful.

No update is perfect, and Epic Games has a history of implementing new “overpowered” weapons and concepts in Fortnite only to revert them shortly after (I’m looking at you, giant sword). While it would be impossible for Epic Games to please everyone, players are left to trust that the developers are working to ensure the longevity of their game and interest in the season.

Fortnite Isn’t Done Adding Fallout Cosmetics https://www.escapistmagazine.com/fortnite-isnt-done-adding-fallout-cosmetics/ https://www.escapistmagazine.com/fortnite-isnt-done-adding-fallout-cosmetics/#disqus_thread Thu, 30 May 2024 16:58:49 +0000 https://www.escapistmagazine.com/?p=226564 The start of Chapter 5, Season 3 of Fortnite has brought plenty of changes — a new meta of wild vehicles, new weapons, and the introduction of Fallout into Battle Royale. But it appears the T-60 Power Armor isn’t the only Fallout-themed cosmetic we’ll be getting during the Wrecked season.

While it’s unclear if more skins will be available, like the Call of Duty x Fallout collaboration that is going live, it’s exciting to see that we can at least see the iconic Vault Boy make an appearance in the world of Fortnite.

While we will need to wait for official confirmation from Epic Games on what will actually be making it into the game, it’s exciting to see that there are potentially more Fallout skins and other cosmetics on the horizon. Fans have been asking for customizable Vault Dwellers since the official reveal of the collaboration, so let’s keep our fingers crossed for a Jonesy Dweller. It seems likewWar really does change, after all. Now pass me a Chug Jug.

Here is every skin included in the Fortnite Season 3 Wrecked Battle Pass.

The Machinist: Control Your Fire

the machinist fortnite season 3

The Machinist is a new character in Fortnite Season 3, with a heavy emphasis on working in the garage. If you need a tune-up or an extra set of spikes on your tires, she’d be your go-to gal.

Rust: Shred The Wasteland

rust fortnite chapter 5 season 3 skin

Rust is yet another take on the motorcycle riding asking, Rust Lord, from the earliest days of Fortnite. The iconic helmet is a direct nod to the classic skin, albeit with a blue stripe this time instead of red.

Peabody: Phil, Earl, and Axle. Three peas in a Podcoat

fortnite season 3 peabody

It’s been a staple to have a bit of a goofball character in each Battle Pass, and Peabody is Fortnite Season 3’s. It’s technically three characters in one… wait, which one is the head?

Ringmaster Scarr: Rule the chaos. Run the destruction

ringmaster scar fortnite skin

In a season akin to Mad Max, Ringmaster Scarr just fits. Her base skin is brooding enough as is, but some of her alt styles scream, “Please use me to run someone over with a car.”

T-60 Power Armor: Courtesy of the Brotherhood of Steel

fallout power armor fortnite season 3 skin

The Fallout crossover we’ve all been waiting for is finally here in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3. The T-60 Power Armor may not offer the same benefits as it does in Fallout, but it sure does look cool as hell.

Brite Raider: Drive Fast. Burn Bright

brite raider fortnite

Another homage to a classic skin, and one that’s been done before. The Brite Raider is a nod to the Brite Bomber, one of the earliest skins to hit the Item Shop in 2018. Time flies when you’re having fun.

Megalo Don: Nitro-fueled apex predator

Megalo Don forntite season 3

A return to form for the “Tier 100 skin.” Megalo Don looks terrifying, and he’s sure to cause havoc in Fortnite Season 3. I can already feel the chill running up my spine imaging one of these driving toward me.

Wastelander Magneto: Another Marvel Skin

Magneto marvel fortnite season 3

Of course, would it really be a Fortnite Season if there wasn’t more than one crossover skin in the battle pass? Magento is the “secret skin” that players can unlock by completing weekly challenges, and he won’t be available for a couple of weeks.

Fortnite Reveals a Fallout Collab Is on the Way https://www.escapistmagazine.com/fortnite-reveals-a-fallout-collab-is-on-the-way/ https://www.escapistmagazine.com/fortnite-reveals-a-fallout-collab-is-on-the-way/#disqus_thread Fri, 17 May 2024 16:55:03 +0000 https://www.escapistmagazine.com/?p=220493 It appears that Fallout Frenzy is taking over not only our regular lives but our digital ones as well. The post-apocalyptic RPG franchise recently debuted on the big screen with its own television show, and now appears to be coming to the most popular battle royale on the planet — Fortnite.

Tweet by @ShiinaBR on X (formerly known as Twitter)

With the start of a new Season coming quickly, it appears that fans will have something to worry about beyond getting a Victory Royale or being eliminated. Details are currently sparse regarding how big of a collaboration this may be, but with the leaked chapter name for Chapter 5, Season 3 being called “Wrecked”, we wonder if Fallout will be playing a bigger role than originally anticipated.

As Chapter 5, Season 2 – Myths & Mortals winds down and ends on May 24, 2025, we’re already inching closer to whatever Fallout content is in store for us. It seems that Epic Games is working hard to bring plenty of gaming icons into Fortnite, with characters like Solid Snake and Raiden recently having a mini-event of their own.

Fortnite Battle Royale Keyart Textless

I would be fine with just some power armor being an available cosmetic, but if Bethesda and Epic Games decide to work together to make this something even bigger and better, you can count me in. Here’s to hoping that I can be Vault Boy while I’m cranking 90s and getting elims, but I guess I’ll settle for a back bling or something.

We’ll need to wait and see what this collaboration brings to the table — is the whole upcoming season based around Fallout, or is it just a skin & event collaboration like the recent Avatar: The Last Airbender collaboration? It’s exciting, nevertheless, and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us. Let’s just hope there isn’t a Nuke mythic or it’s game over for everyone.

Fortnite is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC & Mobile.

A Major Change Is Coming to the Fortnite Item Shop Soon https://www.escapistmagazine.com/a-major-change-is-coming-to-the-fortnite-item-shop-soon/ https://www.escapistmagazine.com/a-major-change-is-coming-to-the-fortnite-item-shop-soon/#disqus_thread Wed, 15 May 2024 00:13:26 +0000 https://www.escapistmagazine.com/?p=218690 The Fortnite item shop rotates its offering often, and players are never quite sure how long skins will be available for purchase, but that’s set to change. From the start of the next season, players will get more information on rotations, which should alleviate some FOMO.

Epic Games is Removing the Mystery from Item Shop Rotations

Fortnite Item Shop Logo

Epic Game has made a lot of money from purchases in the Fortnite item shop. Much of the time, players feel pressured to buy skins early, but up until now they could never know for certain how long an item would be available or if/when it will return. The item shop does have a countdown timer, but this simply marks time to the next shop refresh; it does not inform players when specific items will leave. The Dutch government fined Epic Games $1.2M for these practices, alleging that The government claimed this design pressures children to make purchases quickly, since young players believed the items would be leaving the shop sooner than they were.

In a major win for consumers, Epic Games is addressing this, though it is not clear at this time if the change was made due to pressure from the Dutch government. However, the timing leads me to believe Epic is trying to prevent themselves from future legal issues.

This change, confirmed in a Tweet from Shiina, will add “individual shop timers” for items. Instead of the countdown timer being for the whole shop, this new feature will give players a countdown to the time certain sections will rotate out. Now, players will be able to check item descriptions for the date that it will leave the store. There are multiple instances in Fortnite where items stay in the shop for several rotations, but players have had no way of being informed this will happen in-game. Thankfully, this new change will help players be more informed.

The new update will be added to Fortnite in Chapter 5 Season 3 on May 24th.

Can You Access Star Wars Content in Existing Worlds in LEGO Fortnite? https://www.escapistmagazine.com/can-you-access-star-wars-content-in-existing-worlds-in-lego-fortnite/ https://www.escapistmagazine.com/can-you-access-star-wars-content-in-existing-worlds-in-lego-fortnite/#disqus_thread Fri, 03 May 2024 15:46:12 +0000 https://www.escapistmagazine.com/?p=213571 LEGO Fortnite just received one of its biggest updates yet with version 29.40, which added a ton of content from the Star Wars universe. This includes an entirely new island, NPCs, weapons, and a massive Star Destroyer crash. But can you access the Star Wars content in existing LEGO Fortnite worlds?

How To Access Star Wars Content In Existing LEGO Fortnite Worlds

Yes, you can access all of the Star Wars content in LEGO Fortnite in worlds you already have going. Some players have poured hundreds of hours into their LEGO worlds, and those worlds continue to grow with the addition of Star Wars Island.

The Star Destroyer crash is an in-game event that randomly occurs as you progress in a LEGO Fortnite world. It won’t crash on your island. Instead, it will crash land on a new island off the coast of your existing island. This ensures that none of the builds you’ve made are destroyed by the wreckage.

Even when you start a new world, you will have to trek to the new island in order to access the content. We actually encourage you to pick up where you left off so you don’t have to grind for resources back through the tiers of tools and weapons.

Where To Find Star Wars Content In Existing Worlds

LEGO fortnite star wars event

The Star Destroyer event spawns for us as we were making our way toward the desert, but it could be different for other players. However, if you’re playing with sound on, the event is nearly impossible to miss.

A massive rift will open in the sky, and Star Destroyer will emerge, followed by several smaller space fighters. A dogfight will ensue, followed by the Star Destroyer exploding and crashing way off in the distance. If you follow the horizon where the crash took place, eventually you will see a large smoke cloud, signifying where the ship landed. Follow the smoke and you will find the Star Destroyer, Stormtroopers, and more!
